We had our two new skylights installed last week and they look amazing! I’m glad we included the light filtering shade. Cody made the initial assessment and estimate process easy and straight forward. Johnny very kindly worked around our schedules for the install and truly went above and beyond to ensure the interior trim work looked flawless. It was apparent that this wasn’t just about getting the job done, but that the look and quality of their craft was just as important to them as it was to us and we greatly appreciate that. We would obviously recommend.

Process made simple. The initial estimate visit was critical for us to make the decision to go with WCS. We were told information not share by the other providers who gave an appraisal. The installation process was great; three fixed skylights. It took less than a half a day and when the gentlemen left, we would have never known they were here. The install and clean up was fantastic.

Cody came out and assessed the situation. It was definitely time to replace the Velux skylight which had been installed in 1987. Velux makes a great product but the argon seal doesn’t last forever. When it’s gone, streaks appear between the glass layers. Cody gave me a written estimate and a start date, weather permitting. Ari came out on the start date and did an excellent job. He removed the existing one, installed the new one and also installed interior trim which he painted to match the surrounding wall and ceiling area. The company accepts credit card payment without charging an additional fee. The company warrants its work, as does Velux, and supplies written warranty documents and a lien waiver upon completion and payment. Highly recommend.

Bumping this review up since the quality of the install was quite good. I’m leaving my initial review below due to the early communication issues.I’m leaving an initial review due to the poor communication thus far of the scheduling of the installation of skylights (as of this post,,original schedule was 6 to 8 weeks, with it delayed to 12 weeks). I want to point out that I’ve had to actively reach out multiple times to see when someone would contact me to get the installation scheduled. Even when someone (I’ll call him Mr . M) actually reached out, the scheduling was very flakey. If Mr. M is having personal issues with being able manage the project, why not assign someone else and proactively let the customer know? I had to reach out multiple times to push them to get an install date. There was even miscommunication on their side with someone from Windy City Skylights letting me know an install would happen on a date, but then I received a call from Mr . M that he would not make it on that date. I reached out again to verify if the install would start on that date and again they apologize and corrected themselves from earlier that they indeed could not start on the date they said they would. Very confusing to say the least considering I have to work with my own contractors to schedule some prep work to align with the installation of the skylights.Once the installation is done, I may update my review.

I am extremely pleased with our skylight installation. We had an old leaky bubble skylight and it was much overdue for a replacement. We got two quotes and both were very close in amount, the other company was slightly lower but Cody was able to adequately defend the quote he gave and I agreed with the points and reasons Windy City’s quote was a bit higher. Unlike the other company, Cody actually got on our roof and assessed the skylight, brought paperwork and a picture of what the final job would look like and answered all of my questions.The day of Installation went well. Installation did take a bit longer than expected but only because our installer took the time (probably close to two hours) driving around to different roofing stores to find the exact matching shingles for our roof that we now know have been discontinued. He was kind enough to leave the extra shingles if we ever needed them . I really appreciated him taking the time to find the exact shingles as I was worried about them not matching as the light is in a very visible area of the house.Out of all the big projects we’ve done at our home, this one was the one I am most happy with and I have no problem recommending this company to family and friends.

After the snow we got on Monday, I wasn't sure my appointment would be kept on Friday, howerver, too my surprise, Matt showed up early in the morning, shoveled the snow off my roof and after it melted completely he installed my two skylights. He was very pleasant to work with and answered all my questions. He was very professional in his work and he did an excellent job. I really enjoyed working with Windy City Skylights, from dealing with Mike on the first visit to the installation by Matt.

We liked the idea of a company that specialized in skylights, so called Windy City. Cody came out. Without any hard selling, he explained all of our options with associated costs to replace our 2006 model. A military discount is available and credit is given if one has their own shingles for any needed due to skylight installation. Payment is due upon installation. Payment by cash or check waives the 5% charge card fee. Bad weather delayed our installation by a couple of weeks, but soon enough we were scheduled. Ben and Jeff showed up before 9 a.m. with a roll of plastic in hand and quickly taped off the inside area. Was surprised how little work was done from the inside, and that was at the end. Took about three hours all in. Looked very clean and seemed to brighten the kitchen more than the previous one. Guys rolled up the used plastic, taking with them all debris removed from and around the house. No nails found anywhere outside. Have already noticed outside noise has been curtailed, and expect the triple low-E heat blocking glass will make a difference this summer. Had some heavy rains last night, but not a drop inside. Highly, Highly Recommended. My skylight was a very difficult one -- 8 feet long installed on a pitched roof 40 feet high with an oval moulding and inside glass panels. Cody and Charles were professional and thorough; my custom skylight was ordered and installed on the promised installation date. Tim and Tim did an excellent job on a very difficult project -- they installed the skylight, sealed the curved molding and cleaned all the inside panels. They were exceptionally talented, courteous and friendly, despite it being a hot, dusty and somewhat treacherous project. Everything that was promised was delivered. They also provided a ten year guarantee on the skylight and labor. Call this company!!!

Very happy with this company. The sales guy steered me to the most sensible configuration which was not the most expensive. Their pricing is very reasonable compared to others that I compared to - who were proposing the same skylight from the same manufacturer. The work was scheduled quickly. Recently had two old Anderson skylights replaced. Due to the age, this required custom covers and curbs. Our installer Tim arrived on a cloudy Friday morning, had to endure waiting out a midday thunderstorm, and completed the job, by HIMSELF, staying until past 6:30 on Friday night! The results are outstanding and have completely changed the look of the room. Price was very competitive compared to another Velux 5-Star installer that quoted the work, so very happy overall!

We just had 3 skylights replaced. Windy City did a great job of being efficient on the front end with the quote and explanation of how the work would proceed. The new skylights are not the same size but that was not an issue with this team. The work was completed in one day and the skylights look great!

When deciding to get a Velux skylight, I asked them to recommend an installer. They gave me the name of 2 companies in my area that are on their 5 star list, meaning that they have been trained by Velux. After getting quotes from both companies I went with Windy City Skylights. Their quote was lower than the other company and, equally important in my decision were 2 additional factors. 1) My installation was going to require trim around the inside of the skylight. The first company from which I received a quote had it written into the contract that “inside trim was the homeowner’s responsibility”. Windy City provided and installed the trim. 2) Purchasing a solar shade (which I did) made me eligible for a 30% federal tax credit on all labor and materials associated with the installation. The first company that gave me a quote provided information on how to file for the credit, including information about which federal form I would have to submit. Windy City provided me with the form itself.For these 3 reasons I chose Windy City to install my Velux Skylight and was not disappointed. The gentleman who did the work was courteous and friendly. He protected the area under the skylight, worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned up after himself. I am really pleased with the service Windy City provided and with the Velux skylight.

Great job, great quality product, outstanding service, plus a great warranty on everything! They replaced our original master bathroom skylight installed by the builder, with a new state of the art skylight. They were on time, contentious about making sure not to make a mess, courteous and neat. The new skylight they installed has already made a huge difference in how hot the sun would make the bathroom and as a side effect the rest of the upstairs. Now all the light comes in, but only a small fraction of the heat gets through. I am looking forward to winter to see if it keeps the cold out better too. I highly recommend them to replace any old skylights you have. It is a great investment in your home.

I had remote-controlled blinds installed on my skylights in the bedroom. Chad did an outstanding job of installing them quickly and professionally. He did the trim around them and around a a skylight in the bathroom which is about 20 feet from the floor. Everything looks great, and I couldn't be more pleased.

I discovered Windy City Skylights quite a few years ago, and after a bad experience with a skylight that leaked that was installed by another company. It leaked badly. Windy City replaced it, but they did so thoughtfully and efficiently so after quite a few years IT IS STILL NOT LEAKING. I recommend them for the quality of their workmanship.

When we lived in Frankfort, Illinois Windy City Skylights installed 4 Velux Sun Tunnels for us. We were absolutely delighted with their work. That actually was just icing on the cake when you consider the unbelievable product they installed. These lights not only look good, they flood the room with sunlight! (Or huge amounts of, just daylight if it's cloudy). This was in 2013. Since then we've moved to central Illinois and the only problem we have with Windy City is that we have moved out of their service area. The home we moved to desperately needs some Velux Sun Tunnels from Windy City, but we've been unable to convince them to open a branch near us. Thanks Windy City! We hope you'll reconsider.

About a year ago I contacted Wide City Skylights to give me an estimate on having some skylights installed. After talking pro and cons with the sales person which was a no ppressure experience I desiderate to have I. I had two installed in my family room. Now comes the unbelievable part. No money down until the job is done. The job was a total project with all drywall and painting. Now here is another shock, my ceiling color was an off white so they took a piece of the drywall to a paint Store to have it color matched. Wow! I'm not done, I have a big older TV that was close to the job and I didn't want to move it off the wall. They said OK and they went and built a plywood shield around it. These guys were the best. The job was perfect and the solar shades I ordered with the skylights are a must and work perfect.
